✓ Who Qualifies for the Welcome Home Grant?
Check Your County’s 2026 Income Eligibility
Your household income (all adults living in the home) must be 80% or less of the Mortgage Revenue Bond (MRB) limit for your county. Select your county below to see the income limits:
📋 Full official list: Download 2026 MRB Income Limits PDF | We verify your exact limit during pre-approval.
Other Key Eligibility Requirements
- Not just for first-time buyers – Repeat buyers qualify if income-eligible.
- Your own contribution: You must put at least $500 of your own funds (not gifted) toward down payment/closing costs.
- Credit score: No program minimum, but depends on your mortgage type (FHA 580+, Conventional 620+). We’ll build the strongest file possible.
- Primary residence only: Property must be in Kentucky and be your primary home (single-family, townhome, condo, duplex/4-unit, or qualifying manufactured homes). No investment or second homes.
- 5-year residency: Live in the home for 5 years. If sold or refinanced early, prorated repayment may apply.
📝 How to Apply for the 2026 Welcome Home Grant
Step 1: Get Pre-Approved
Work with a participating FHLB Cincinnati member lender (like me) and get pre-approved for your mortgage. Verify income/eligibility early.
Step 2: Find Your Home
Find a home and get a fully executed purchase contract. This is required to reserve grant funds.
Step 3: Reserve Your Grant
Your lender reserves the grant via the FHLB portal on/after April 6, 2026. Remember: funds are first-come, first-served!
Step 4: Close Your Loan
Close your loan. The grant is disbursed at closing to cover down payment and closing costs.
⚡ Pro Tip:
Funds move fast—start your pre-approval now and get your documentation ready. The faster you can get an offer on a home, the better your chance of securing grant funding when April 6th opens.
